Our Achievements: (2012-2023)
- Strategic Planning: Developed and implemented 2 strategic plans that guided the operations and goals of Wezesha.
- Project Support and Oversight: Financially supported and managed the delivery of various projects in both the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) and Kenya.
- Income-Generating Activities: Supported income-generating activities that have significantly benefited communities in both countries.
- Organizational Impact: Over the last 12 years, Wezesha, a diaspora-led development organization, has made substantial contributions in Ireland, Kenya, and DRC. Key accomplishments include:
- Mobilization: Successfully mobilized over 5000 members in Kenya and DRC.
- Legal and Governance Development: Registered Wezesha as companies in both Kenya and DRC, developing robust organizational governance structures.
- Conferences on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV): Hosted 2 conventions, one in each country, focusing on SGBV.
- Summits: Conducted 2 summits on health and economic empowerment.
- Youth Summit: held with Youth of African Diaspora covering social and economic.
- Publications: Issued 3 significant publications:
- Healing the Wounds of War
- Champions of Transformation: African Diaspora in Ireland
- Embracing Diversity: Experiences of African Descent and Service Providers in Dublin 15
- Land Acquisition: Members in both the DRC and Kenya purchased land for development projects.
- Educational Support: Provided education support for 6 girls in Kenya.
- Global Advocacy: Presented on the role of the diaspora in sending and receiving countries at the UN in Geneva and at an international humanitarian conference.
- Policy Development: Involved in the development of Ireland's 3rd National Action Plan on Women, Peace, and Security, and participated in the oversight group monitoring the implementation of the plan.
- EU Engagement: Engaged in two EU-Europe for Citizens projects and hosted 2 international conferences to mobilize diaspora youth around the Sustainable Development Goals.
- Support for Conflict-Affected Women: Supported women from armed conflict areas and established the Tumaini group in Monaghan.
