Over the past 12 years, Wezesha has demonstrated measurable impact
across Ireland, Kenya, and the DRC:
- Developed
and implemented two strategic plans guiding organisational growth and
programme delivery.
- Mobilised
over 5,000 members across Kenya and the DRC.
- Legally
registered and established strong governance structures for Wezesha
entities in all three countries.
- Financially
supported and managed multiple community-based development projects.
- Supported
income-generating initiatives benefiting vulnerable women and communities.
- Facilitated
the purchase of land by members in Kenya and the DRC for long-term
development projects.
- Provided
educational support to six girls in Kenya.
- Hosted
two national conventions on Sexual and Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) one in
each country.
- Convened
two summits on health and economic empowerment.
- Organised
a Youth Summit with African Diaspora youth in Ireland addressing social
and economic inclusion.
- Delivered
capacity-building training to women affected by armed conflict living in
Ireland.
- Supported
women from conflict-affected regions and established the Tumaini
support group in Monaghan.
- Published
three significant works:

Diversity: Experiences of African Descent and Service Providers in Dublin

- Contributed
to the development of Ireland’s 3rd National Action Plan on Women, Peace
and Security and served on the oversight group monitoring its
implementation.
- Presented
at the United Nations in Geneva and New York on the role of the diaspora
in development and peacebuilding.
- Participated
in the implementation of the International Decade for People of African
Descent in Ireland.
- Engaged
in two EU “Europe for Citizens” projects and hosted two international
conferences mobilising diaspora youth around the Sustainable Development
Goals (SDGs).
- Supported
youth programmes and activities, workshops on peace and climate change,
focusing on SDGs, supporting recreational activities such as matches between
Irish and African youth, in monaghan and Dublin
Recent Developments
(2024–2025)
- Wezesha
Congo opened a medical clinic in Kinshasa (2024) to improve access to
community healthcare services.
- Established
Africa Street Medicine, expanding grassroots health outreach.
- Hosted
the first International Symposium on Illicit Brew and Substance Abuse at
the Cooperative University of Kenya.
- Africa
Street Medicine was invited to participate in international conferences in
Dublin and Hawaii.
